Each Other

January 14, 2017, 11a-3p
MadArt Studios, Seattle, WA

Directed/Choreographed/Performed with Tamin Totzke

Each Other was a performance and open rehearsal series presented at MadArt Studios during our residency from November 2016 through January 2017.  It was a synchronized response and offering to the turbulent cultural experiences that following the 2016 election. Each Other examined the body as a record of lived experience and a vehicle for yearning, restraint, flight, and deep empathy.  In attempt to solve the incalculable problems of the times, we focused our somatic attention towards 100 tiny fighter jets, landing strips, the horizon and each other.

This work was presented as part of the exhibition, WE ARE A CROWD OF OTHERS, an installation and event series by Gail Grinell, Sam Wildman and Eric Olson.

More about the WE ARE A CROWD OF OTHERS: We Are a Crowd of Others is a forum for people to engage with this reality: a person’s identity often exceeds the limitations of their body, manifesting in words and actions. The performances, installations, readings and other events that make up this exhibition are disparate but the lens we use to view them is singular. We are examining a synchronous vibration: how does something resonate within a culture? How does it extend beyond a source, moving through rather than between people? How does it amplify or fade away?  http://crowdofothers.com/
